2017 will be an exciting year for us as we move towards joining with a Multi Academy Trust. It is clear to all that the government want all schools to academise and that schools need to be part of something bigger in order to maximise the financial and educational benefits. Our Governors have been relentless in their work to put our schools in the best possible position to provide for all of our pupils in the future.
Following initial conversations with several Multi Academy Trusts a shortlist of three was agreed. Having had further discussions with all those concerned and following a thorough process I am pleased to inform you that The Wensum Trust is our preferred option and that they in turn have agreed that we can join them as a “Coastal Hub”. This means that when we academise Alderman Peel High School, Wells Primary and Nursery and Burnham Market Primary School can continue to work closely together with additional collaboration with other schools in the Trust.
In due course a process of due diligence will take place before a final agreement is signed. There is likely to be a phased process meaning that all three schools may join the trust at slightly different dates. This is to ensure the process is manageable for Governors, Headteachers and The Wensum Trust.
There is no legal obligation to consult for a second time but I would welcome your thoughts or any questions you may have. I will of course keep you informed during this process. More information regarding the Wensum Trust can be found on their website: http://www.wensumtrust.org.uk/
Without doubt the ethos and philosophy of our schools in our federation will not change; neither will our inclusive approach to education or our high expectations. The demands placed upon teachers is higher than ever but our wonderful team of staff are simply the strongest we have had and they are up for the challenge. It is a real privilege to work with such a dedicated and forward thinking team.
